May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. Romans 15:5-7
I turned. And you were there.
Sunday morning was one that I will long – likely forever – remember. For some time, I have envisioned what it may seem like, what my feelings might be, when God’s people of Audubon and TCAL were gathered together. I didn’t honestly know what to expect, or when it might finally hit me as reality. I walked into the sanctuary Sunday morning holding the hand of my best friend, unsure how my feelings would hold up.
And then, partway through the service, I turned. And you were there.
I was delighted when Dan asked me to pray over our communion. As I approached the front of the sanctuary, turned slowly and saw you, your eyes looking at me, the reality of what we are doing – together for His glory – overtook me. What blessing to be among my beloved brothers and sisters so that with one voice we might glorify our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a moment that you have given me that will be cherished forever.
My friends, let no one understate the ministry of your presence within His church. From my vantage I could see tangible joy and wonder among the faces of Audubon and TCAL alike. In a single moment of presence, a hope transformed by the Father.
Praise Him from whom all blessings flow.
